Description:
My path was similar to many finance/accounting leaders. MAcc > Public Accounting > CPA > Controller > FP&A > CFO. When I left public accounting, I didn't have anybody to turn to that would show me how to be awesome at my job. I felt lost and overwhelmed. To make up for my incompetence, I overworked. 60-80 hour weeks were common. Even had a 100-hour week. I remember sleeping on a cot next to my desk for a few hours while I waited for the system to generate reports needed for analysis to answer what I now believe were very basic questions. I wasn't having fun. My family was suffering. My employer was questioning my abilities. I had no time to myself. I overate. I felt overwhelmed. Eventually, things got better. But it wasn't until I learned the skills needed to give what was really wanted. I learned that there are only a few things that really need to get done, and the rest is just busywork. I simplified by focusing on the areas of massive value, and learned how to streamline the busywork. Through focus and simplification, I added massive value to the organization. My leaders were super happy with me. I was promoted, and my income nearly doubled. I then became a fractional CFO. I applied the same methods to my clients, and also learned the art of raising capital. I feel like a rockstar! Talk to any of my clients - they love me! I have been able to double my rate, and I'm still turning business away. Oh, and I have done zero networking events, marketing, or selling myself to get all that. It's all word of mouth. I make great money, but what's best is that I have extra time to do what really inspires me. And now I'm figuring out how to offer that transformation to you as a finance/accounting leader. I'm creating coursework where you can gain valuable knowledge in a simple step-by-step method, and a community where like-minded leaders can learn from each other.
